Deep, soulful and powerful – this is how one would describe the vocals of Natalie Peris, Croatia´s leading EDM singer / songwriter. Recognized internationally, Natalie prides herself with collaborations with some of the biggest names in the electronic music genre and releases that have hit the very top of dance charts around the globe thus claiming her as one of the most highly demanded vocalists in the scene.
Today I have the Honor & Privilege to have the company of Natalie Peris and she will speak Exclusively to The Movement Radio Listeners
(Rahul) Hi! Natalie, Welcome to The Movement Radio’s Spotlight.
(Natalie) Hello, thanks for having me Rahul.
(Rahul) What´s it like being one of the leading female vocalists in the electronic music industry?
(Natalie) Nice of you to say that, I´m just happy my work got recognized around the globe and I am really
honored to be working with such amazing people.
(Rahul) You have been releasing big tracks recently and even this summer we have a new song from
you! What keeps you so inspired?
(Natalie) Can´t say I´m not happy that so many things are going on this year. It sure has been a great one,
lots of projects in the works, a music video, and more upcoming releases. I guess part of the
inspiration comes from my dedication. I have set certain goals to accomplish this year and seeing
how they have been happening made me more and more inspired to work even harder.
(Rahul) What inspired you to write a beautiful song, like “Outshine”?
(Natalie) Myon & Shane 54 have been so great to work with. We had a great working vibe and the guys
being hilarious as they are, turned this into a really fun project. A positive attitude can only lead to
good things, so that’s pretty much how “Outshine” happened.
(Rahul) “Outshine” is coming out on Myon & Shane 54´s label Ride recordings and has received quite
some support by most A-list artists such as Armin Van Buuren and Above & Beyond. Have
you and MS54 worked before?
(Natalie) I´m really happy and thankful for all the support “Ousthine” received so far. Such wonderful
feedback from fans, radio plays from the big guys… It´s very exciting and I cannot wait for the
release. This is the first time I have worked with Myon & Shane 54, but will not be the last.
(Rahul) How did you guys manage to collaborate, given you´re a house music vocalist. How was it
like to be featured on a trance track? Please share few of your experiences.
(Natalie) I can´t really say that I´m just a house vocalist; my discography is quite diverse. I´ve had trance
releases in the past as well, so working with trance artists is not something new to me. One thing
I have in common with the guys is that you can´t really list either of us strictly into trance music,
as both our styles are undefined yet we work well in all fields within the electronic genre. I guess
that’s a good thing, I like to improvise.
(Rahul) How did that come about and did you always want to become a part of this industry?
(Natalie) I used to sing in a jazz band, but I always loved house music and I wanted to somehow get involved
in the industry, but I didn’t know where to even begin. I wanted to present something new in the
Croatian clubbing scene so I started my own live vocal house events. Seeing how well received this
was, I realized this is something I should continue developing. Soon enough my demos got heard
by the right people and I quickly got connected to some great electronic producers. The rest is
(Rahul) Do you think there is a lack of recognition for vocals in EDM ?
(Natalie) I can´t say I´m not loving the current “sound” of EDM nowadays, but it sure doesn’t leave much
room for vocals. I´m kind of hoping some other genres will make a comeback, so vocals could be
put back in focus rather than being used as a sample.
(Rahul) You are one singer that I love to listen to. I would like to know how does it feel to be have the
most desirable voice in the Electronic Dance Music Industry?
(Natalie) Thank you for the compliment. I wouldn´t know If I have the most desirable voice, but it sure is
nice getting requests from great musicians. It is a large field with so many great vocalists out there,
and it isn’t easy to stand out. I´m just happy I can do what I love to do, and seeing such positive
feedback on my music is the greatest reward.
(Rahul) Now let´s talk about some of your recent projects. You collaborated with The Shapeshifters
on your most recent release “Universal Love” which was also released on their tenth year
anniversary album. Tell us about your experience on working with such legends of house
music like them? Are the popular in Croatia?
(Natalie) It has been an absolute pleasure. I was really glad when they asked me to send over some music as
I was saving “Universal Love” to give into the right hands. But it was worth the wait as I love how
the track turned out. The Shapeshifters are quite popular in my country and they´ve been playing
in Croatia for decades, so it was really well received in the media that this collaboration happened,
which I am also thankful for all the support we got.
(Rahul) Are there any more future releases planned with The Shapeshifters?
(Natalie) We worked on several tracks together, “Universal Love” happened to have been featured on
their 10 year anniversary album. What will come out in the future I´m not sure yet, but it would
certainly be great to have some more releases with the guys.
(Rahul) I was so excited to ask you about “Davos”. He is quite the Youtube celebrity. Please tell us
about your experience working with him and how was he involved in the project? We are
very excited to know.
(Natalie) I´ve heard of Davos from his piano house party Youtube video, but I haven’t met him until the guys
introduced us. I was really surprised when I heard he would also be a part of this release. His piano
skills are amazing and it was really great having him on the track.
(Rahul) Recently, we have seen your pictures with Orjan Nilsen on Facebook. We would like to know
is there a collaboration that you guys are working on?
(Natalie) Yes, as a matter of fact we are working on something together. The pictures you saw were from
our music video shoot in Amsterdam for “Saint out of me”. Really excited about the release.
(Rahul) Why was the track named “Saints Out of Me “? When did you guys first come up with this
Track and how long did it take you to make it ?
(Natalie) I can´t give out the lyrics yet, but it has something to do with the chorus. Believe it or not, Orjan
sent me this track over a year ago. When we first agreed on working together my only request was
that he sends me something that will blow up the dance floor, then he sent me this a few days
later which completely blew my mind. I thought the music was so amazing that I immediately got
inspired to write the lyrics and record the vocals which he also loved. I can´t wait until you guys
hear the track and see the video.
(Rahul) What sort of music video have you guys shot? Can you describe a little part of it, candidly
may be for your fans?
(Natalie) We worked with a really great video crew and it was a fun experience, but I cannot give out any
details yet. You will see it soon enough!
(Rahul) Can you confirm that Orjan, is releasing his artist album this summer, will this track with your
collaboration be featuring on it ?
(Natalie) Yes, “Saint out of me” will also be featured on Orjan´s artist album which is coming out on Armada
(Rahul) Is there any track that you have done till now which is very close to your heart and why?
(Natalie) My track with Cressida “Easy to forget” I hold closest to my heart. It is a song which I wrote about
a friend who I am no longer in touch with. Maybe best you read the lyrics yourself to see what I am
(Rahul) If you had to share a few words with the people who are in love with your voice, what would
it be? Any advice to your fans who are ready to be singers like you some day?
(Natalie) Anything is possible, anything could happen. Never give up.
I Thank Natalie Peris very much for taking out time for us today. It was Great to interview Her, I along side The movement radio’s crew wish her all the very best and success in the rest of 2013.
